Meet the Kiwifruits Cast – Amanduh

Kapiti Playhouse has been fortunate to attract a prominent professional NZ drag queen for their next production, Kiwifruits. As a friend of a friend, Amanduh was asked if she would advise us on all the intricacies of playing a drag queen. After meeting the director, Liz Alpine, and reading the script, she offered to play the part of Fay Gay, the lead narrator in this hilarious NZ adult fairy tale.

Amanduh la Whore is a DARK CHOCOLATE TASTE, that lingers in the mind, & resonates within the SOUL.  This gender illusionist's beauty is Nationally & Internationally acclaimed, Amanduh is noted for her simplistic elegance & her willingness to promote, social change with regard to our Human Condition.  She "IS" a corner stone of the Wellington G.L.B.T.I community, very private, seldom SEEN yet ALWAYS remembered. Kapiti Playhouse is a voluntary amateur dramatic society – none of the actors is paid – and members pay subscriptions for the privilege. Therefore the offer from a professional to perform with us is a wonderful act of generosity, particularly when the person has to travel up from Wellington at least three times a week over 9 weeks (includes rehearsals).

Why did Amanduh decide to become involved? Amanduh says “After meeting with Liz and understanding her passion for the production, then learning that this production was voluntarily based, that was a WOW moment. When I was given the script I couldn’t believe it, I laughed so hard I nearly pee’d…. On meeting Bruce, Liz’s partner, travelling out to Paraparaumu, I started to see that this project was really special. Then I met the handsome cast and I was sold. It’s like walking in the woods and being given a lamp to guide your way. Each and every cast member is amazingly talented and very giving of their time. My side kick, Tatania, is not only beautiful physically but has a beautiful soul. So it is I who is privileged to be working alongside some fantastic, loving, very gifted performers. This production is going to be off the chart and I’m so looking forward to meeting all our guests that are willing to risk KIWI FRUITS.

Don’t miss this stunning performance of an adult pantomime.

Kiwifruits by Carl Nixon and Craig Cooper opens on Wednesday 6th August. Performances are Wednesday to Saturday 6th to 16th August at 8 pm PLUS Sunday 10th August at 2pm.
